Franz Liszt ( – ) was a creative Hungarian composer as well as a conductor, virtuoso pianist, music teacher, organist, author, music arranger, and philanthropist. Liszt was popularly renowned during the early nineteenth century in Europe as an extraordinary virtuoso pianist. In addition, he was a music promoter who acted as friend and benefactor to many other composers of that same time, such as Frederic Chopin, Robert Schumann, and Richard Wagner, just to name a few, as well as promoting his musical forebears, such as Bach and Beethoven.
