Margaret Denise Quigley, born in Honolulu (Hawaii), is the daughter of an American father and a Vietnamese mother. After graduating from Mililani High School, she moved to Hong Kong to begin a career in modeling, and it was at this time that she changed her name to Maggie Q, which was easier for Chinese to pronounce. In , she began her acting career by making a few appearances in Chinese television series.
