Lesley McCaslin has become a staple of Thunder broadcasts as a reporter for Fox Sports for seven years. She'll be taking on a new challenge next season.

McCaslin announced on social media Tuesday that this will be her final season covering the Thunder before assuming a new role with Fox Sports Southwest "in different capacities."

McCaslin, who resides in Dallas and is expecting her second child, detailed her journey in a post entitled "A Bittersweet Goodbye to Thunder Nation" on her personal blog.

"Sometimes you just know that you are ready for a change, and that’s the basis for my decision," McCaslin said. "I have enjoyed every minute of my time in Oklahoma City, but over the past few months, I feel like God is calling me to do something different – to take on a new challenge – and be closer to home and my growing family."

Yesterday, the Oklahoma City Thunder announced that Lesley McCaslin has joined the the team as a television broadcast sideline reporter. Her job will be to report trite human interest stories about the work of Thunder players in the community, give vague injury updates and provide a much needed break from Brian Davis and Grant Long.

Lesley is replacing Kelly Crull who left the team last summer to make a documentary about eye shadow and foundations. Just kidding, Kelly left the team to "explore other broadcasting avenues." From what we've heard, both Kelly and the Thunder thought that was a great decision.

The Oklahoma City Thunder has announced the hiring of Lesley McCaslin as its new courtside/web reporter and host for game broadcasts on FOX Sports Oklahoma. She joins play-by-play announcer Brian Davis, analyst Grant Long and radio announcer Matt Pinto on the Thunder broadcast team.

Years after being cut from her seventh-grade basketball team, Lesley McCaslin said she's thrilled to have an opportunity to cover one of the top NBA teams, the Oklahoma City Thunder, as its sideline reporter.

“I was so bad, the coach told me I could be a manager,” McCaslin said. “And my tennis coach said, ‘No, you better just come back to tennis.' I've always loved basketball, but I was never very good at it.”

Although basketball didn't work out for her growing up in Lubbock, Texas, she excelled at cheerleading. As a senior at Monterey High School, she helped Texas Tech win the national cheerleading championship as a part-time student. After enrolling at the University of Texas, she joined the pom squad.

McCaslin started out as a theater major at UT, but changed her mind and went into broadcasting.

“I didn't think I wanted to act,” she said. “I'd rather be in sports.”
